It's Official - Like Many Had Predicted - Arena Takes Over New York Red Bulls

Bruce Arena will be announced as the new head man of the Red Bulls this afternoon. (But why does this press release have this really bad cartoon of Arena in it?)

Because RBNY is a really bad charicature of a professional soccer team? (/DCU_SNARK)

This will be great. A clash of two immovable forces...the horror that is Metros/RBNY against the success of Arena. I think Arena's ability to succeed will overcome the negative vibe and history of the franchise.

Or at laest, that's what I'm hoping for.

I actually think Bruce turning NY around would be a bigger achievement than coaching a lower division team in Europe.

As much as I felt that Arena needed to move on from the USMNT after the World Cup, even if the US had a successful WC, I am disapointed to see him join the musical chairs that are MLS coaching positions. I wonder how many MLS teams he'll end up coaching over the next 8 or so years?
