Game 1

It's on.

Keller G
Cherundolo D
Lewis D
Mastroeni D
Onyewu D (yellow)
Pope D
Beasley M
Convey M
Donovan M
Reyna M
McBride F

(5') Brutal. Koller with a header. Czech Rep. 1-0 US
Landy-cakes draws a yellow on Rozenhal, shows a little spark.
The size advantage the Czech Republic has over the US is visually aparent.
Post! Reyna shoots from 25 yards and is inches from drawing the US even!
(35') Goal for the Czech Rep. by Rosicky. A beautiful shot.
Our crosses have no chance, our defense has no energy. We can still turn it around, but it may not be enough.
(43') The big man, Koller just went out with a knee injury. He looks pretty hurt.
Johnson and O'Brian in.

Cherundolo and Mastroeni out.

Bruce goes to a 5-3-2.
Lokvenc and Reyna get yellows, 58' and 59' respectivey.
Rosicky gets his second (77') to take the Czech Rep to three goal lead.

Wolff in for McBride
Grygera gets a yellow.
Polac in for Rosicky.
Czech Republic 3-0 US

Don't believe the hype.
Individually, maybe.
No way.
I'll put this one squarely on coaching.
Look, its not a complicated game; go to where they aren't, shoot, score, win.
The problem with futbol in this country is that so many US soccer snobs (ironic, as most who learn to kick and walk at the same time do so with balls made of twine and plastic bags) want such a pretty game that speed and force are disdained as being "kickball". So what. If that wins, do it. Put Jones and Wolff in and let 'em fly. Pick up the pace and attack. Time of posession is worth a cup o' luke warm spit, but then again, there is lot of pretty passing.

Totally disagree.

Not a problem of coaching, a problem of execution.

...and who is this Jones character you are asking for?

A problem of both, really.

Landycakes up front is pointless. Landycakes in the midfield makes much more sense.

Johnson looked energetic, Convey played some dangerous crosses, Beasley did his usually running up and down and in and out and everywhere. But where was the effort from the rest of the team?

It was obvious today that Beasley and Convey are not long term answers if we are looking to be a top level international side.

why not dempsey?

Convey had some crosses, but they were useless against the czechs. We were dominated in the air. But I have to say, I wish I would have seen more of the 20+ yd shots that every other team is knuckling in. Reyna's post and Eddie Johnson's last few efforts were the only glimmers of hope.

I seriously have to question anybody's soccer knowledge that thought Beasley did anything but horrible.
