Chicago Cut Loose Coach Sarachan

Dave Sarachan has been "Fired" as head coach of the Chicago Fire this morning.

Assistant Denis Hamlett will take over as the interim.

He has been on the du Nord hot seat for many weeks (I was going to post the new hot seat today and DS was sitting at #1), and without a dramatic turnaround most saw this as inevitable.

Who do you think should get the job?

Novak seems the obvious choice. Maybe Jesse March pulls a Jason Kreis. Hristo "leg breaker" Stoichkov has gotten into the coaching game. Pibe's gotten into coaching. Klopas might be available too. Those seem like a fair number of options...

Nowak does not seem like the obvious choice at all. He was just hired as the under 23 mens national team coach and he was run out of DC last year where the players hated him. Why would the Fire go after an unsuccessfull coach and why would Novak leave a decent coaching gig for one of the sinking ships in MLS?

I was at that United/Fire game last weekend, and even though the Fire was missing half the first team, it was a sorry display on their part. I kept thinking to myself "Sarachan is gone." Usually my predictions are worthless...nice to be validated for once.

Jose from Chelsea - this latino guy I know who works at a bodega on 18th street and 9th ave is a great motivator, but a little cocky (pun intended if you know Chelsea).

Nowak would be embraced mightily by the supporters as he's still VERY near and dear to our hearts....it seems unlikely though that he'd take it at this point in his career. Other than Piotr I would like to see someone from outside MLS get a chance but I don't have any names...Klopas would also be a Chicago fave but I'm clueless as to any coaching experience he has. At least the Chan is gone and hopefully some passion will be injected into the team. GO FIRE!!!!!!!! dang

Watch the Studio 90 sesion today and see how annoyed the players are when Nowak is playing 5 v 2. From what I have seen in the past, some like him, some hate him but no one seems to love him. He seem's the natural choice but I don't know if Nowak would be a good move.
