Los Angeles Galaxy In Minneapolis

The Minnesota Thunder are announcing today that they will host/promote the LA Galaxy for a friendly match on Oct 10 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
The opponent has not been confirmed yet. But we are told it will be a big name oppponent.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has details.
It appears as though Beckham is not going to be ANY days off once he arrives.

Nothing against Minnesota, but this is BS. October is a rather important month in MLS. Having a meaningless friendly cup at that time is a crock. I knew having Beckham would mean the Galaxy would have to whore out a lot, but I didn't count on stuff like this jeopardizing their seasons.

The Opponent will likely be 2005 CCC winners UNAM Pumas.

jamesy is right. i'm not a huge mls fan (though i support my local team) and not a fan of the galaxy in particular, but this doesn't make much sense. how many fixtures are they going to pile on here. you see how dreadful the FA final was between two world-class teams primarily because these squads have played so many matches in a compressed number of days. the number of fixtures and days will be different in mls (us open cup/mls season/superliga/friendlies) vs what man u and chelsea went through (epl/fa cup/carling cup/champions league) but the concept remains the same. by the end of the season you'll have really dismal football and how is that supposed to market the sport?
