In my opinion, the player who should be at the top of MLS team's wish list is Juan Roman Riquelme. The Argentine midfielder is totally on the outs at his club teal Villareal, and has retired from internationals. One of his reasons for retiring was to spend more time with his sick mother. Living in the USA would put him a lot closer to home than being in Spain. Come on someone. Step up. Get it done this week before the transfer window closes. I bet Peter Wilt would do it.

Another pro gets a blog! This week Steven Goff of the Washington Post starts Soccer Insider, joining Luis Arroyave, Ives Galarcep, Andrea Canales and Luis Bueno as professional soccer writers with a blog. Now I know for sure that this is a conspiracy, and they are trying to put us amateurs out of business. I wish them all the luck in the world, cuz "Yer nevah gonna git me suckas"!
-One of Goff's first tidbits was the fact that DC United midfielder Brian Carroll will sign a new contract with the team after checking out possibilities in Europe and finding them unsatisfactory.

Awesome day for Jay DeMerit yesterday. He came off the bench in the 33rd minute and scored the winner with his head 40 minutes later, as Watford won for only the second time this season in the English Premiership. They beat Brad Friedel and Blackburn 2-1! Unfortunately it is probably too late for last place Watford to avoid relegation, unless they go on a biblical run. Sorry Jay. On the other hand the team seems to have that never say die attitude, so at least they have some chance.

reyna looks like his wearing a spain jacket in the mls pic.
I actually wrote Brad Rock an e-mail about "The MLS" headline. He wrote back a really nice e-mail saying he understood that but would pass it on to the copy desk (people who write the columns don't write the headlines by the way) so the mistake wouldn't be made in the future.
Who gives a shit if someone says "the MLS?" It's by far the least important thing out there.
Each time you give a shit about "the MLS" count the number of blades of grass in the nearest soccer field. That would be just as important. And most likely prevent us from reading about some moron going off about some perceived slight that never actually took place.
sin - why are you so fired up about something that you see as so insignificant
you can't get upset that someone is upset about someone saying "the mls" and then say its meaningless
The article really isn't that bad. The only bad thing about it is the writer's spin on not being able get hold of a financial review of the league. While not noticing or not bringing up the fact that one is not going to get that from any league in this country. As they are all going to be secretive in that department.
Instead, people decide that Brad Rock should be hung to dry because the copy editor placed 'the MLS' in the title.
I'm looking forward to Brucio's commentary about Claudio Reyna's hair in the forthcoming season of "The MLS."
Dear Anon,
If you are constantly obsessed with seeing if Bruce once again made a comment about hair than I suggest you find another blog to read where you may not find something about hair. Perhaps you can find a blog concerning OCD such as you have yourself. I say that only because I always have a big chuckle at your expense that you continue to read this blog even though it gets you all riled. Only someone with some real compulsivity isseus would contine to read and post such callow comments.
claudio has great salt and pepper hair
i am jealous
brad rock is good, and covers the game well, i have no issue with him at all, my only issue was the grammatical error in the headline of a daily newspaper
ok get back to it
