What Kind Of Perfume Is That You're Wearing News

It's official. Manchester City have released Claudio Reyna from his contract! ADDITION: The New York Red Bulls have called a press conference for noon central time tomorrow to introduce Reyna as their newest player.

Olympique Marseille in France and Porto in Portugal have joined the list of clubs showing strong interest in signing American centerback Oguchi Onyewu. Personally I would like to see him sign just about anywhere other than Chelsea.

I have chatted with three long time Chelsea supporters in the past week and all three insist that the English tabloid stories about a big rift between manager Jose Mourinho and the clubs executives are all fiction. But I am not buying it for one second, and neither is Rob Hughes at the International Herald Tribune: Friction undermines Chelsea's ambitions
-Hughes also writes on the social & cultural implications a financially wealthy club like Chelsea can have on their community: Clubs reap the benefits of sharing their wealth

Actually, I'm hoping that Onyewu will join Chelsea. Yes, I am as disgusted as the next guy about how Chelsea (and Man U and the Gunners and Madrid and Milan and the Yankees...) stockpiles talent by merely being able to outbid the others.

On the other hand, I think it's great for American soccer that an MNT player joins one of the top-4 clubs in the Premiership. All of the following are good, IMHO: some team being home to multiple US MNT players (like Fulham is), one or two really top teams having an MNT player on their (frequently-fielded) roster (as I am hoping Chelsea would), 4 or 5 players routinely transferring from MLS to EPL every year (hauling in about $10M each year to MLS' coffers)...

Re: Greg Lalas

Anyone know whatever happened to his magazine, Striker? I know it was an mile-wide-inch-deep type of magazine, but I really enjoyed it....

In a sick twist, it turns out the victim of the tattoo story was a mentally retarded teenager.
