The Punks

We visited the grounds of FC St Pauli in Hamburg yesterday. What a trip that is. They play in an old worn out stadium under the watchful eye of a massive 10 story WWII concrete bunker. Skull and Crossbones adorn the outside of the stadium. Their fan shop stocks 100´s of things for sale, from official shirts and scarves to little kids shoes to a full array of skull covered items, and their own brand of cigarettes. They also have a "club" called Casa St Pauli which is a bar and lounge. We stopped in for a drink. They were really cool to us, and one guy offered to take us out into the stadium. The team and fans have a loose affiliation with the Tibetan national team and Glasgow Celtic. I think the Dark Clouds need to get in on that action! Last week I visited the grounds of Sparta in Prague, and today will drop by the fan shop of Hamburg SV.
Until next time, adios from me. Bruce

I've thought the St Paul - St Pauli connection was something that might be exploited. Worth thinking about.

Interesting...There's a thread over on Soccer City USA that discusses the Timbers "joining up" with St. Pauli.

The thread is here:
