"Soccer Isn't Fit For America"

A Letter To The Sports Editor of the Mobile Register in Mobile, Alabama:
How can the Alabama High School Athletic Association encourage soccer as a sport? There's photographic evidence in Saturday's paper of two young men leading with their unhelmeted, unprotected heads. What other sport encourages you to strike other objects with your head, possibly causing severe injury? This is insane and stupid. Besides, soccer is meant for countries where you have domestic cattle and chickens roaming in the street. We're too advanced a society (!!) to encourage a sport that encourages you to strike a ball with your head.
