For those people who want the MLS season to move to the so-called "international" calendar here are the teams that are in cities with REAL winter:
  • Chicago
  • Colorado
  • Columbus
  • Minnesota
  • Montreal
  • New England
  • New York City
  • New York Red Bulls
  • Salt Lake
  • Toronto
  • Vancouver
That's half the league. If MLS is going to get closer to the calendar many leagues follow then they will have to get creative. Real creative. Anyone running for US Soccer president who just says "we have to move to the international calendar" is short sighted and lazy. Its not doable. Lets get smart.

I've been to games in Seattle on Thanksgiving weekend. While they don't get the snow it does get cold. Sometimes really cold with the wind coming off the water. Right where the Sounders play.

Even without Seattle that list of winter cities is half of MLS. An "international" August - May calendar simply isn't possible.
