Some Soccer News for Nov 1, 2017

It's Day 305 of 2017.

I am so sad for the people who died and were injured on the bike and running path on the lower west side of Manhattan yesterday. There is no reason for people to lose their life like this.

MLS PLAYOFFS

HUUUUUUGE win at home last night for Columbus.

Quarterfinals Results:
-Tue Oct 31
Columbus 4-1 NYCFC

Before last nights game I ran a quick Twitter poll asking which keeper would have the better game. Zack Steffen collected 78% of the vote. Then he played really well, and the other keeper Sean Johnson had a terrible game that he won't forget any time soon.

MLS

Philly announces that Jim Curtin WILL be their head coach in 2018.
  • Currently in the #1 spot in the Hot Seat.
  • At the end of last season Jeff Cassar of RSL was #1 on the list and he lasted just 3 games into the 2017 season. They missed the playoffs on the last day. A couple points in those first 3 games would have made all the difference.
  • Several of the Union's bigger name players are OUT - Maurice Edu, Oguchi Onyewu, Charlie Davies, Chris Pontius, Roland Alberg. In all they cleared $2.9 Million in salary cap space. By Jonathan Tannenwald for Philly.com
