MLS

Colorado forward Kevin Doyle retired today due to repeated concussions and worrying about his future health.

MY MLS Notes:
  • A big night on Wednesday for playoff implications.
  • Both Atlanta and Chicago clinched playoff berths on Wednesday night.
  • New England got absolutely smoked 6-1 at Orlando. Brutal.
  • New England is the only team in the league without a road win this season.
  • You know what though - KC only has 2 road wins this season. Not very good for a team that wants to be a contender.
  • Atlanta is a joy to watch. Their supporters must be nearing rapture.
  • But Atlanta's dominance is a bit of a foggy situation. In the past 16 games they have only played 2 teams in current playoff contention. (Beaten Columbus twice. Tied Kansas City.)
  • Dallas won for the 1st time in 11 games.

A player truly on the rise is RBNY's Tyler Adams. He still lives with mom and dad. By Noah Davis for ESPNFC.
  • I have watched entire Red Bulls games just to watch Adams. He was their best player in the Open Cup Final.
  • And on Wednesday he went out and scored 2 goals.

Armchair Analyst - special Wednesday match recap edition. By Matt Doyle for MLS.

Current estimates have DC United playing the first 1/3 of next season on the road. That can't be good. Minnesota needs to avoid that in 2019.

NYCFC desperately needs to get out of Yankee Stadium - here is their latest attempt. By Andrew Das for the New York Times.

  • This is assuming he has a job. The whole management team could be gone soon.
