It's Day 208 of 2016.

Sigi Schmid has been shown the door by the Seattle Sounders. He is my favorite coach in the history of MLS. But something had to change. By Matt Pentz of the Seattle Times.
  • Schmid was the only coach the team has ever had in MLS.

  • LAFC should be on the phone with Sigi's agent right now.
  • On Sep 3 2005 I was in a bar in Columbus Ohio telling every Crew fan I could find that their team should be hiring Sigi Schmid as head coach. In 2008 he lead them to the MLS Cup Championship. A month later he left the Crew for Seattle.

The way the sounders played both last year and this, even with Martin's they looked vulnerable. Seattle has never had the depth Schmid needed to play the number of games they did and. And the last two years there seems to have been a general malaise around the product on the field, or maybe the game had moved past him.
