Seattle Sounders put a 5-0 beatdown on Dallas (who played almost all backups) on Wed night, but it was costly as Clint Dempsey got a Red Card for slapping/batting at Juan Esteban Ortiz's head.
  • Dallas defender Maynor Figueroa was sent off for Dallas in just the 4th minute of game for a handball that stopped a shot from going into the goal.
  • The damage done by the Dempsey Red Card will be felt on Sunday in the derby with Portland. Not what coach Sigi Schmid needs right now.

The biggest NASL newsmakers this week were the Carolina RailHawks, a team that has really struggled on the field, but just had a big exhibition match and introduced a game changing player.
  • They signed Mexican star Omar Bravo from Chivas.
  • The Railhawks played a friendly against EPL team West Ham, tying 2-2 and setting an attendance record of 10,125.

Word has come out that the US Open Cup semifinals will be played Aug 10 and shown on ESPN2.
  • Quarterfinal matches will be played next Wed Jul 20.
