I like this and want to see it in the Twin Cities: NYCFC, US Soccer and Adidas to build 50 soccer fields in under-served New York City neighborhoods.

A critical (some very real issues tackled, and yet a very incomplete scope too) look at the division of fans in the American soccer landscape - White and Latino. By Jay Caspian Kang of the New York Times Magazine.

Maud Griezmann the sister of France and Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann was attending the concert at the Bataclan in Paris the night ISIS terrorists attacked, and has a horrible story to tell. By Sam Borden of the New York Times.

Its just 6 months until the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Gabon.

Tim Howard is very happy to be in Colorado. And MLS is radically different to when he left in the summer of 2003. by Dave Caldwell of the Guardian.
  • I will quibble with this part of the article: the bump in ticket sales for Howard's 1 home game had nothing to do with him. It was the 4th of July and the Rapids have a 20 year history of putting on a great fireworks display.
  • But lets hope the addition of Howard and Jermaine Jones can wake Coloradans from their slumber.

dN

Ilsinho of Philadelphia Union named MLS Player of the Week.

Nazmi Albadawi of Carolina Railhawks named NASL Player of the Week.

Kristen Edmonds of Orlando Pride named NWSL Player of the Week.

Brandon Allen of New York Red Bulls II named USL Player of the Week.

Comment left here yesterday by Locust (Rich): Bummer the US played so scared in their game vs Argentina, unless their plan was to play fully afraid, then they executed about flawlessly.

What very real issues were tackled in that NYT piece? Guy seemed to imply that racism or Euro-style hooliganism that was responsible for Latinos not embracing the USMNT, then failed to produce much of anything in the way of evidence to back it up.

I wonder if USWNT GK Ashlyn Harris was left off the Olympics roster due to the silly yellow card she picked up by hauling down Lionel Messi in the Copa.
