After word spread a few weeks ago that Brad Guzan had not been resigned by Aston Villa it comes as a surprise today to read in the Birmingham Mail that he has nearly completed a new deal with the club again and new head coach Paul Lambert has told him that he has an open and fair shot to earn the starting job.

Al Jazeera is getting closer and closer to launching their American sports channel beIN Sport. -They own the USA rights to show La Liga, Serie A and Ligue Un for the 2012-13 seasons. -No word yet on which cable and satellite providers will carry the 2 channels or if it will cost extra (ie. premium channels). -Word on the street is that Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson will both be a part of the new channels.

The company that owns the new version of Glasgow Rangers FC in Scotland is seeking to block any players from leaving who are under contract to the old and now completely defunct version of the team. 5 have already filed transfers and the new club is seeking to prevent that.

-Jason Levien will be the active ownership partner. Erick and Will live far away and will be part of big decisions.
-Structure of MLS was a huge attraction for ownership. Europe was not attractive because of runaway spending.
-The new investors #1 is to get a stadium deal done, even if they have to use a "machete" to get the deal done, they said.
