Some Soccer News for Mon Apr 9, 2012

STARTERS

Clint Dempsey continued his amazing season with 2 more goals for Fulham, and maybe even bigger for the team is that they came on the road where the team scores few and rarely wins. Again, amazing!
-Dempsey has 21 goals in 40 games in all competitions this season.
-English tabloids are reporting that Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are all interested in buying Dempsey this summer.
-Dempsey has set a new Premiership record at Fulham beating the old one of 14 by Louis Saha.

And then Dempsey goes and scores a goal again today against Chelsea, but odds are very good that it will be credited as an own goal as it was going wide and then hit a defender to deflect in.
-And for those of you playing the JP Dellacamera "deflected" game you can take a drink now.

MINNESOTA STARS FC

Season Opener

The team began defense of their championship by dominating a scoreless game. But no goals means only 1 point. They deserved more.

Actually the Star should have buried them!

Neil Hlavaty had the best chance to win the game for the Stars but missed a Penalty Kick late, only proving that even the very best at it are not perfect.

Carolina keeper Ray Burse was the Man of the Match for sure.

You can't really see me in this clip but I am carrying the NASL Championship Trophy out of the tunnel to begin the game!
-Thanks to Aaron for the video.

The most exciting thing about this article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune is that its actually about the game. 99% of the time articles written about this team or its precursor revolve around off field issues. Thanks Star Trib.

MLS MATCH NOTES

NOTE: SINCE I WROTE THE RANT BELOW THE VIDEO CLIP HAS BEEN FIXED, BUT I WANTED TO POST THIS ANYWAY CUZ I WAS REALLY UPSET WHEN I WROTE IT AND MLS NEEDS TO KNOW HOW BAD THINGS WERE LAST NIGHT (read the comments section to see how many people felt just like I did):
I am at a loss as to why MLS would allow THESE highlights from the Columbus-New York game to be used on their website. Terrible pictures, digital distortion, audio and video way out of sync, and the video missing all together. This stuff is embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, how about that attendance in Columbus. Gorgeous weather and not even 12,000 in the stands. Just Brutal.

Oh My, how about this "slo-mo" goal celebration from KC - Kamara, Sapong & Besler re-enacting some kind of action movie sequence to perfection! HI-Larious.

For what feels like the 10th time already this season Sean Franklin is the LA player who gets burned for a goal. What is going on with him?

Logan Emory - Toronto - red card

That must be a misprint about Bocanegra/Bedoya/Edu in Scotland and playoffs (cue Jim Mora voiceover). Everyone knows the "rest of the world" doesn't use playoffs, and uses a single table featuring a balanced schedule with everyone only playing every other team twice, home and away.

I know.
Its making me really mad that Belgium isn't in their playoff season right now.
And that the Netherlands playoffs will never happen.
And why doesn't Mexico or Australia have any playoffs?
