Some Soccer News for Wed Mar 21, 2012

STARTERS

At age 24 Lionel Messi has already become the top goal scorer in Barcelona history. His three yesterday takes him to 234!
-And to me even more amazing is that in this 2011-12 season he has already scored 54 goals in all competitions!

dN

That didn't take long - Head coach Juan Pablo Carlos Osorio has worn out his welcome at Puebla and resigned before they fired him. That seemed doomed from the start.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

New England says Jose Pepe Moreno is expected to arrive on Thursday. Are you prepared to hold your breath for this one?

DID YOU KNOW?

Conor Casey took to the practice field with the Colorado Rapids for the first time today since he ruptured his Achilles tendon last season.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING

John Molinaro of Sports Net talks to Toronto and San Jose reject Nana Attakora who has a nice sob story. Maybe someday he will grow up and realize the world does not revolve around him.

WELL WELL WELL

I am not writing this to make light of any tragedy....

I was listening to 2 guys talk about the Bolton player Fabrice Mouamba who had the heart attack on Saturday and one guy said that Mouamba has recovered enough to be able to speak to visitors in two languages, his native French and adopted English. But for one moment my mind drifted off and I thought the guy was going to say that he was now able to speak a third language that he had never spoken before. Maybe Hmong?

And on a related note Thierry Henry flew to London today to visit his former teammate Mouamba. Damn. That is genuine care for another human.

THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

I really dig these people and what they stand for!

OOF

So let me get this straight, a tussle at the door of a nightclub is worthy of a civil law suit? Give me a break.

Jose Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports that a police officer who got in a altercation with Dynamo back up keeper has filed a civil lawsuit against Tyler Deric, three other Dyanmo players and the team itself.
-The player accused the cop of making racist remarks and before using a tazer on him.

Having now seen the complaint in the case against Deric and the Dynamo, I have to say it's laughably sparse on any actual pleading. There's nothing in it to suggest why the Dynamo should be liable for anything, and fails to even give dates or injury descriptions.
That being said, any criminal convictions would make proving up the civil case much much easier, but at this point I can't really see why anyone other than Deric would be liable for any damages.

You are correct Josh. 4 in the league and 1 in Europa. It turns out I was only looking at league goals, and his stats had not been updated yesterday when I posted. I thought they had been. Thanks for the heads up.
