COUNTDOWN TO MLS 2012 - SEASON 17







STARTERS


Brek Shea has been invited into an Olympic training camp that will happen at the same time the USA senior team is preparing for a friendly against Italy, meaning he is most likely NOT going to be on Jurgen Klinsmann's roster for the first time since the German took over the program.

Due to all the USA games in late May and early June you should expect any MLS based players on that roster to miss about 1 month away from their club teams.

One time USA and MLS superstar Eddie Johnson (recently cut by Puebla for showing up to preseason totally out of shape) has signed a deal with MLS and will be dispersed through a lottery on Friday.

LA Galaxy blew out their top executives today: President of Business Operations Tom Payne and Director of Communications Patrick Donnelly are OUT. Chris McGowan and Michael Altieri, respectively, from the Los Angeles Kings are IN.

Player Transactions

Vancouver has announced that they signed 33 year old Scottish left midfielder Barry Robson to a deal that will begin when the summer transfer window opens in July. He is currently with Middlesbrough.
-He is being deemed a designated player.
-So far this season he has played 24 of their 30 games and has scored 6 goals.

Portland officially signs trialist 24 year old Cameroon wide midfielder Franck Songo'o from Albacete in Spain Segunda Division B who has been impressive in preseason games.
-One concern is that since he debuted as a professional in 2005 he has only played in 72 games, and that was for 9 different teams.

Philadelphia has signed attacking midfielder Krystian Witkowski who they picked in the supplemental draft.

Colorado Rapids announced the signing of a loan deal for 22 year old Argentine attacking midfielder Martin Rivero from Rosario Central.

He changed last season I believe. It is his mothers last name. Seems like his dad was never in his life. So he changed it to honor his mom. Could have just gotten a MOM tattoo
