Montreal's big splashy first MLS signing is a centerback who has barely played a game since the middle of 2006 - 28 year old Colombian Nelson Rivas.
-Rumor has it he signed as a designated player, but I want to see verification of that. If he is a DP then that's a real shame.



My team, the Stars had a powerhouse win in St Petersburg over FC Tampa Bay on Saturday night that propels them to the next round of the playoffs against nemesis Carolina. What a battle that will be!

The Europe based Court of Arbitration for Sports has turned down Mohammed Bin Hammam's appeal of his lifetime ban from FIFA for corruption.


The Press Association reports that fans of both teams in the North London derby this past weekend were heard chanting horrible things at the other team during the game. The two teams have condemned their own fans. What will be done?

“Both clubs were extremely disappointed to hear the chants from supporters at yesterday's game. Neither club tolerates foul language, racist chanting, homophobic chanting or any anti-social behaviour from its supporters. We shall be working closely with each other to identify the individuals involved.”

Chicago's Marco Pappa was named MLS Player of the Week.

4 out of 9 games this weekend ended 1-1. Tightness.


RSL has lost 3 in a row, after winning 5 in a row. They are OUT of the Supporters Shield race. But due to other teams ineptitude they claimed a playoff spot.


Toronto, New England and Vancouver were all officially eliminated from the playoff chase this weekend.


12 teams will now fight over the 7 playoff spots remaining.


Its been great to see Juan Pablo Angel turn his long season around after joining up with Chivas USA.


Also great to see Eddie Gaven back to 100% for Columbus, and how about that diving header for a winner! Oh yeah! (What is up with that terrible video quality?)


TSN has words from commissioner Don Garber concerning next years schedule, and its looking more and more like it will not be a balanced one. Damn. They are also trying to get it out much earlier than ever before, and with so many teams controlling their own buildings its easier than ever before.

Montreal with a press release that tell us they are right into their inaugural season prep and have brought in a lot of players for evaluation, including several names we all know: Jamie Watson, Jeremiah White, Wes Knight and Bratislav Ristic.

-Ristic is the one I would look at the hardest.
-An handful of their NASL players are getting shot at the new roster as well, including Sinisa Ubiparipovic, Ryan Pore and Hassoun Camara who all had really good seasons with the Impact.


Edson Buddle scored the games first two goals but Ingolstadt blew leads of 2-0 and 3-1 to lose 3-5 at home.

Clint Dempsey scored the team's 5th goal of the game for Fulham as they ran a dumptruck over Queens Park Rangers 6-0 on Sunday.

Jermaine Jones has worked his way back into the Schalke rotation and while not starting yet, is playing more each game. It would be great to see him re-take his dominant role.

Robbie Findley's manager at Nottingham, Steve McClaren resigned after another terrible game.

Michael Thomas scored his 5th goal of the season at Ljungskile in Sweden's 2nd division.
