Jozy Altidore got the first goal for AZ in a Europa League win today.

STORY OF THE DAY

ESPN has the story of Richard Sanchez who was born and raised in the USA but played goalkeeper for the Mexican national team this summer when they won the U17 World Cup. He also plays for FC Dallas. And the story is told in his own words. Fascinating. (thanks to Ryan for the link)

I do have respect for America and appreciate what this country represents. I have a different perspective than my teammates. They’ll say something like, “All Americans are racist.” But I know that’s not true at all. I tell them, “How many Americans have you met? What would you say if I told you all Mexicans are drug dealers?” It goes both ways.

2011-12 CONCACACHAMPIONS

Matchday 3

Recap du Nord: Dallas looked completely worn out as they scored after just 23 seconds then held on for dear life and got a home tie against Tauro. Dallas still leads their group though. Pumas reignited their might as reigning Mexican champs to drill Toronto who fell out of the top 2 in their group. Meanwhile Seattle became the first team to 9 points after a big win in Costa Rica.

Video highlights from all the games.
