Some News for Fri Sep 2, 2011

STARTERS

I am curious to see if any of our big name soccer journalists will write the story of US Soccer being fined by FIFA for abusive language from fans during the Gold Cup.
-Word came down from US Soccer to the biggest supporters group American Outlaws that abusive language on a large scale will not be tolerated, and as punishment for what has already gone down the Outlaws will no longer be allowed to hang their banners at USA games.
-BREAKING NEWS: Kerith Gabriel of the Philadelphia Daily News asks US Soccer about this fine, and the USSF comes straight out and calls the statement fiction. They were never contacted by FIFA. They were NEVER FINED by FIFA. End of story. Did the leadership of the American Outlaws mess up on this one?

Nordy - The story is coming out that there was NO fine from FIFA. Fiction. Blemish on the American Outlaws for writing that in their release.

I totally commented about the Million Dollar Quartet and can only assume Bruce deleted it to hide my genius-level brain skills.

What I don't get about the AO whining is why they don't spend more time trying to cut racism and (mindless) obscenities rather than making up crap about FIFA? (Thoughtful obscenity is great, however)

How funny would it be if the USSF were censured for fan behavior at the Gold Cup final in LA? (Well, hey, they were the home team, and most of the fans lived in the US, so which federation is responsible?)
