Some News for Fri Aug 12, 2011

FREDDY ADU RETURNS

Freddy goes to Philly. Freddy Adu is now officially a Union player, and is eligible to play tomorrow. (Coach Peter Nowak said Freddy will be in the game day 18.)
-Video of the introduction by the Union.
-Peter Nowak: "Freddy's natural position is starting 11."
-Its hilarious watching Freddy crack up every time Nowak goes after the people asking the questions. (Which happens more than once.)

Kerith Gabriel of the Philadelphia Daily News on trying to track the story of the Adu signing.

STARTERS

FIFA SCANDAL

The Nation News of Barbados on the 2 officials from that countries football federation that are being investigated by FIFA.
-This article from the Advocate has quotes from the federation.

T & T News Day has a quote from that countries federation official who is being investigated.

The Trinidad Express has an article on the new ethics probe of the CFU members, and for me the sad part is reading the reaction of the T&T people in the comments section. They are seriously embarrassed by Jack Warner.

The Express also reports that Jack Warner has decided to take his ball and go home - his personally owned team Joe Public has withdrawn from league play effective immediately (with the new season scheduled to start in just 2 weeks.) Warner sent a letter to the league explaining why, but those have not been shared with the press.
-The TT Pro League article on the Joe Public situation.

On a political front the Express says Warner is stiffing arming anyone who did not vote for him by withholding all government aid under his jurisdiction - one area of the country has now taken to building burning roadblocks to get his attention.
-And to further scrutinize Warner's means of doing business the countries Prime Minister has installed an oversight committee above him to keep an eye on a new $7 Billion dollar roads project.
-News Day's front page story is on the burning road blocks.

US SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

The New York Cosmos appear to have given up on the idea of having youth academies on both coasts as their Cosmos Academy West was absorbed by Chivas USA. I would assume that Cosmos will now concentrate on their east coast set up.

Dear John, Please stop dry humping the English Premier League during MLS and USA broadcasts. Thanks, Bruce.

Dear Bruce, please fix "drying humping" to "dry humping," if in fact that was your original intention and I'm guessing it was. Thanks, Mark.

I took a survey today about soccer in the US. When asked who is my favorite announcer, I simply put "Not John Harkes."
