DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD

"I’ve been hung out to dry." - Jack Warner

Yes you have Jack. On a clothesline that you were a chief architect in imagining, building, stealing from, hiding behind, and using to line your pockets for over two decades.

I love how he hid behind his role as guardian of fellow Caribbean nations only to bully them all into kowtowing to his every whim. Sure he helped them. Just enough to get them excited and stand in straight lines behind him. And for every dollar he acquired for them he took many more for himself. A classic dictator.

The Timbers team-up with Alaska Airlines has brought us these two fantastic TV commercials:

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

The New England Revolution ownership decided last weekend to come down hard on fans for using profanity at Gillette stadium. We had some good info and links yesterday.

Here is a more complete round-up of the whole story from Brian at The Drug Is Football who lives in New England and attends Revs games.

I really hope this issue won't get swept under the rug, and that the ownership will see a way to turn this all positive and build the organization up instead of the burning down they have been doing.

On a positive note, the team is letting people vent all they want on Facebook, and have posted on Twitter that they have not removed any posts no matter how negative.

MY THOUGHTS

Some great goals again this past weekend:

Like this classic from New York's Thierry Henry. How many of these will be on his highlight reel?

Kevin Goldthwaite of Portland with an awesome behind the leg flick just like the one Chicharito had the same night. Again, awesome! (Or was it an own goal by Carlos Mendez?)

The Red Bulls go half the length of the field on three quick passes then Austin Da Luz makes a great move to finish.

Then we have the defensive blunder of the week as Michael Lahoud of Chivas forgets to play the ball and Jackson steals it to win the game for Dallas.

Juninho of LA jacks another long distance bomb of a goal, this time beating the keeper to the back post. He has had 3 of these this season.

Fredy Montero hits a brilliant free kick to win the game for Seattle, and he makes it look effortless.

But my favorite of the week comes from Vancouver where Davide Chiumiento makes a fantastic weaving run from midfield then feeds Alan Rochat who hits a curly rockets to the far post!

Too bad Jones' goal was decided by the powers that be to be an own goal.

As far as the Rev's fans go, there is really NO REASON to curse at the game. Where has common sense and civility gone? Screaming epithets or cursing at the opposing keeper has nothing to do with team loyalty. You are not a fan. MLS and the Revs need to make the venues comfortable to the families will attend, not just a bunch of probably drunken boneheads. No wonder only a few thousand turn up at Revs games.

I quit going to Dodger games in LA when the Giants were playing because 5,000 knuckleheads were yelling "Barry Sucks" all night. That's a terrible attitude. It's one thing to boo, and it didn't even affect Barry. But it's TERRIBLE SPORTSMANSHIP. Be civil, OK?

If there's going to be a crackdown on fans' yelling of "you suck asshole", let's see a crackdown on fans' yelling of "que puto" as well -- it's far more offensive, even if it's in another language.

Oh, also:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/929725/fifa:-%27overwhelming%27-evidence-of-corruption?cc=5901

Maybe this is why Slappy Jack decided to slink off into retirement.
