STORY OF THE DAY

Jere Longman of the New York Times with a feature story on the best player in the world Lionel Messi.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

"There's no issue with our club. There's no issue with our manager. There's no issue with our players. The only issue will be from people who ask questions."
-David Beckham responding to reporters asking if there is any problem with him missing a LA Galaxy game this week so he can go to England and play in an exhibition match honoring his former teammate Gary Neville.

He is quick to forget one group who might have an issue with it are the FANS WHO PAY FOR TICKETS, JERSEYS ETC ETC ETC.

Who does this jack-a-lope think he is kidding?

STAT OF THE DAY

Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid finished the season 40 league goals, setting a new record, which was previously 38 set up Telmo Zarra of Athletic Bilbao 1950-51 and Hugo Sanchez of Real Madrid in 1989-90. Wow.

WHY NOT!

The front office of the San Jose Earthquakes should be embarrassed every single time they can't sell out a home stadium that holds less that 11,000. This week they only drew 9,736. Come on! Why did the owner want a team back in the Bay Area again? Do your hard working players and excellent fans some justice and get to work marketing this team like they are something to be proud of.

DU NORD PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND OTHER STUFF

Chris Wondolowski is our Player of the Week. He has been playing his ass off lately, and looking great doing so. On Saturday he had a phantastic point perfect precision pass all the way across the 18 yard box to a storming Ellis McLoughlin who equaled the effort with his header back across to the far post for a skewering goal against New England. Wondo has been on fire! See it here.
