-Milan is in first place in Serie A by just 2 points over Inter, who at the end of 2010 were 9 points back and in 7th place. This is as big a game in Serie A as we have seen in a while.

We were originally told that Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain would be lost for the season and probably Argentina's Copa America action due to a herniated disc in his back. But surgery has done the trick and he is back and ready for action. Insane.
-I am not trying to be glib when I say that American baseball players used to have that same recovery speed.

The AP reports that new laws were passed in Turkey yesterday designed to stop football match hooliganism. Punishment includes:
-6 years in prison for dismantling seats in the stadiums
-2 years in prison for chanting racial slurs and obscenities in or around stadiums
-1 year in prison for bringing guns, sharp objects or flares into the stadiums

Bosnia-Herzegovina has been suspended from play by both UEFA & FIFA due to their federation presidency being in chaos. 3 people lead the federation jointly but confusion about who really is in charge has lead to the suspension.


I get the feeling that Groups 3, 4 & 8 are going down to the last kick, and probably goal differential to see who moves on.

Cruzeiro & Estudiantes have advanced to the knock out rounds.

Jorge Wilstermann, Tolima & Guarani have been eliminated.
