STARTERS

Today was a brilliantly hideous day for Maurice Edu at Rangers as he scored a goal in the UEFA Champions League against Valencia, then scored an own goal to tie the game! It ended 1-1.

Wayne Rooney stands up and speaks. "I asked for assurances about the continued ability of the club to attract the top players in the world." When he did not get that.... "I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract." Via the Guardian.
-Which means that: either he walks away free when his current contract ends (after the 2011/12 season), he uses a buyout clause in his contract after this season (5 Million Pounds), or the team sells him.

Both Eddie Lewis and Chris Klein announced today that they will retire from their playing days in soccer after their current season with the Los Angeles Galaxy is finished.
-Big amounts of respect go out to both of these quality professionals.

SCANDAL: BIDDING TO HOST WORLD CUP 2018 & 2022

The AFP reports that FIFA has decided that while they are investigating the scandal they will suspended the 2 Executive Committee members who were caught on tapes supposedly asking for bribes in exchange for World Cup bid votes.
-4 other FIFA members (not on the voting panel) were also suspended.

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE

Group Stage Round 6

Recap:
-The win by Salt Lake gives them the Group A top seed, while already eliminated Seattle lost, and Toronto won.
-Real Salt Lake become the first MLS team to win their group in this tournament. One step at a time.
-A loss by Municipal sends Columbus through as seed #2 in Group B.

The 2 final knock out round spots will be filled tonight.

Yes they were down 4-0 when he got going and 2 of them came in second half stoppage time. But still... Wow. But they were down 4-0! That was Inter's win by the way. The other favorites Barca, Man U, Lyon & Schalke all won. Rangers & Valencia shared the points.

Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium has seen new attendance records set two games in a row. 20,236 packed the house for RSL's MLS league game against Dallas this past Saturday, and then last night they topped that with 20,463 patrons for a win over Cruz Azul in a CONCACAF Champions League game.

At the other end of the spectrum last night Toronto set an all time low attendance of 10,385 at BMO Field for their Champions League game.

I left the bar during the halftime of the Spurs/Inter game. I couldn't handle it anymore. Of course, in typical Spurs fashion we come back score three goals. Ridiculous.

bale has been playing left mid all this season with BAE at left back. i also turned it off at halftime. it could've gotten way worse with cudicini in goal
