STARTERS

Today I finally found FIFA's official World Cup post-tournament report. It's 289 pages long. Let me know if you find anything really interesting.

USA WORLD CUP 2018/22 BID

A FIFA delegation of technical inspectors is in the USA this week to review some of the facilities that could be used for the World Cup. Their trip began Mon night in New York and will end in Houston and Dallas on Thu.

STORY OF THE DAY

USL announced today that they are merging their USL1 and USL2 leagues into one new league for next season called USL Pro. How this fits in with US Soccer's new standards for the second division of soccer in America I don't know. There is also no list of teams for this league yet. But basically it eliminates the third division which is currently USL2 second division which is currently USL1. (Thanks to BQ for the clarification)

San Jose says that English goalkeeper Richard Wright is NOT getting a try out with the team. He is in the city though, and worked out with the Earthquakes. But he is not there looking for a job.

Yanks Abroad reports that two more Americans have joined the top Finnish league, and for the same team no less - Mason Trafford and Lamar Neagle at Mariehamn.
-Just like that there are 5 Americans in the league!

AMERICANS IN SOUTH AMERICA

Cameron Smith of Yahoo with an article on Nick May who is at the youth academy of Estudiantes in Argentina. (thanks to TB for the link)

Michael Hoyos is also at Estudiantes and has made some appearances with the senior team.

CONCACAF & CONMEBOL

Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated would love to see a combined tournament of the Americas instead of Gold Cup and Copa America, to compete with the Euro Championship.
-The problem with that is where does CONCACAF Jack get his mega-slice of that deal. Would South America put up with his all-encompassing manner? Doubtful, they got guys just like him who all need their taste.

Guatemala, Mexico, Canada and Panama were all winners on Tuesday. Guatemala also lost on Tuesday as they split their team and sent one to Japan and the other to Washington DC. And Jamaica fell in Florida.
