Some News for Fri Sep 10, 2010

USA WORLD CUP 2018/22 BID

The FIFA team has now seen what the USA has to offer, and returned to their dark and perfectly refrigerated lair in the mountains of Zurich.

Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle sums up the FIFA inspection delegation's final stop in Houston on Thursday.
-A couple more notes from Ortiz.

The Associated Press with a wrap up as the FIFA inspection team leaves. Via ESPN.

How this shot - Ching & Ming - Wow that dude is massive!

And then the dynamic duo great the FIFAers.

Three things from US Soccer:
-The conclusion in Houston.
-Parting quotes from the FIFA delegation.
-Final words from US Soccer pres Sunil Gulati.

My one thought on this is that if there were some flaws with this inspection, like stadiums not being the absolute perfect size, and some buses being needed to transport people around, then what was the inspection of South Africa like? Come on. This country could hold the World Cup next month, and everybody knows that. Its just a matter of if they want it to be here or not. I find the whole weird scene to be a bit of a charade.

MLS PLAYER MOVEMENT

Michael C Lewis of the Salt Lake Tribune says RSL feels they may have unearthed a gem. They have acquired forward Paulo Aruajo JR from Miami FC Blues on a loan deal.
-I saw him play earlier this season and didn't notice much at all. We shall see.

And let's make sure everyone knows this - Miami FC is owned by Traffic, and Traffic is a company from Brazil that owns players rights and tries to find places to sell them off. Miami doesn't seem to care if they draw any fans to their games, as long as they keep turning up great players to move along for a nice profit.

Evan Drexler of the Miami Herald talks to Miami FC's Fernando Clavijo about Araujo.
-I think Clavijo has one of the best eyes for talent in America. He may not be a great coach, but he sure knows players. IE almost all the great New England players were brought in by Clavijo.

The USL/NASL is really a bush, bush
 league.
Montreal visited Puerto Rico and I think
it was around 1,200-1,500 fans and the
Miami game was around 900.
