STORY OF THE DAY

Metrofanatic has a really nice "Thank You" to long time MetroStars/Red Bulls lunchpail carrier John Wolyniec.

I remember Woly as the guy playing for the Milwaukee Rampage and torching my Minnesota Thunder in the playoffs. Lots of respect goes his way from du Nord.

And here is a classic vid clip of Woly doing the Thriller dance after scoring a huge goal in Houston.

QUOTES OF THE DAY

MLS commissioner Donald F Garber on the league's 20th team: "If we could write the book, the next chapter would be a second team in New York. We're working hard to achieve that. We've been spending time talking to potential investors, doing a lot of planning to figure out how to make the economics work. The Red Bulls have been very supportive of having a hometown rival. I hope our 20th team is in New York City. We've got a lot of work to do to achieve that."

And Garber on MLS stadiums: "One thing that we now know is that some of our most successful stadiums are the ones that are located in or close to downtown."

FACT OF THE DAY

Since Kansas City beat Manchester United on Sunday the team has sold over 1100 NEW season tickets!
