POST WORLD CUP BLUES

Now here is a plan I can get behind!

Jonathan Wilson of the Guardian thinks that there are twice as many teams in the World Cup field as their should be.
-I love this part of his plan the most: "Amalgamate the north and south American confederations to form one confederation of 50 teams. Amalgamate Asia and Oceania to create a confederation of 62 members. At present Uefa has 53 and the Confederation of African football 55."

FACT OF THE DAY

The use of 5 referees (1 behind each goal) last season in the UEFA Europa League is going to be expanded this season to include the UEFA Champions League, and the Mexican Primera division.

Which explains why the Kicking & Screening Soccer Film Festival is headed down there for a special one-day event in Houston. K&S/Houston is part of the festivities around the MLS All-Star Game, featuring legendary English club Manchester United.

The festival is organized in cooperation with two-time MLS Cup champions the Houston Dynamo. A portion of the proceeds will go to K&S's 2010 charity, Play 31, and Dynamo striker Brian Ching's charitable effort, The House that Ching Built.
