We asked lots of friends from around the footballing universe to give us their thoughts on some very important questions relating to the WC.

Who is your favorite national team?
My favorite national team is of course the USA!
If your team gets knocked out, who do you follow then?
I will follow everyone, but if the USA gets knocked out, I will be rooting for a team to win who has never won the World Cup before. I think it would be great for the sport to see a new champion. Especially one that isn't from UEFA or CONMEBOL.
Who is in the final and who is going to win?
I think that The Netherlands will beat Chile in the final 2-1.
Who will be the surprise breakout players of the tournament?
Not that Wesley Sneijder is a surprise, but I think he will have a fantastic tournament. I also think an African player will make a big name for themselves, just not sure. Perhaps Steven Pienaar will come up big for South Africa.
How will the USA do?
I think we will get out of the Group Stage, however I'm not sure we will get out of the Round of 16 if we end up matching up against Germany. That would be tough. I think we are capable of winning the whole thing to be honest, it just depends on how well we play on the day though.
Which team do you love to see get beat?
I would love to see Italy, Germany, England and Brazil get beat. Only because they have all won it before and are favorites. I really would like to see England go down in flames, haha.

If your team gets knocked out, who do you follow then?
Italy.
Who is in the final and who is going to win?
Argentina defeats Holland in the final.
Who will be the surprise breakout players of the tournament?
I'm interested in seeing how Javier Hernandez does for Mexico against France, Uruguay, and South Africa. The media has raised some questions about Lionel Messi's stats with Argentina (one goal in the ten games since Maradona took over)...would he be a breakout player if he leads Argentina in goals or to the final?
How will the USA do?
The U.S. defeats Ghana in the second round but falls to Argentina in the quarterfinals.
Which team do you love to see get beat?
Brazil and England.

I also follow Austria, because that's where my grandparents are from but they haven't really been worth talking about since the 80s :-(
If your team gets knocked out, who do you follow then?
I follow the tournament then, and maybe jump on a Cinderella bandwagon if they are actually playing good, attractive soccer.
Who is in the final and who is going to win?
Brazil and Spain, I know going out on a limb there. And as the old line goes about what exactly is the World Cup. It's a tournament where you play 64 games and Brazil lifts the trophy.
Who will be the surprise breakout players of the tournament?
I do believe one of the four US forwards will make a memorable mark. Other than that, hmm.

And while he might not be young, and they might not go far I think Seattle fans will be quite pleased by Blaise N'Kufo of Switzerland.
How will the USA do?
I had them getting to the semifinal based on the hope that Charlie Davies would recover. He didn't, but the emergence of Jozy and the Three Musketeers looks pretty good so I'll stick with the semis.

This year it will be Cameroon because Paul le Guen is their coach. I doubt either team will get out of their groups though.
Who is in the final and who is going to win?
Brazil to beat Argentina.
Who will be the surprise breakout players of the tournament?
Depends if Marek Hamsik (Slovakia) and Lucas Barrios (Paraguay) are surprises, as they are quite well-known. Perhaps more under the radar are Kwadwo Asamoah (Ghana), Luis Suarez (Uruguay) and Lee Chung-Yong (South Korea).
How will the USA do?
They will get out of their group and depending on who they play in the second round, could reach the last eight. I think they could beat Germany but struggle against Serbia or Ghana, who are much more physical.
Which team do you love to see get beat?
None really, but if Diego Maradona behaves like an idiot in South Africa, I guess I won’t be upset to see Argentina lose.
