Some News for Tue Feb 9, 2010

STARTERS

I had a thought last night that all these injuries to Team USA members right now is actually a good thing. This means that when it comes time for the big games in South Africa all of our players will be rested, repaired and ready to go, while other countries will feel their injuries at the wrong time. I am trying to spin this all positive!

Kenny Cooper - Plymouth Argyle - came on as a sub at half time but lost 2-1 at Reading.
Jay DeMerit - Watford - played the whole game and won 2-0 at home over Bristol City.
Frank Simek - Sheffield Wednesday - went the full 90 and beat Blackpool 2-0 at home.

ENGLAND - Football League Trophy Semifinal 2nd Leg
Mike Grella - Leeds - came on as a sub in the 79th minute and scored in the 90th, which tied the series with Carlisle United at 4-4, but they lost in a Penalty Kick Shootout 6-5.

FRANCE - Coupe de France
Carlos Bocanegra - Rennes - lost 1-0 at US Quevilly in the Round of 16.
