STARTERS

Portfolio has done a very interesting study of the top American markets available for expansion, and those that are over saturated. Click on the MLS logo to see what the study says. One thing I find every interesting about all of this is how few "major markets" they feel are available.

In a post entitled "We're getting the band back together" our pal Luis Arroyave of the Chicago Tribune has relaunched the papers soccer blog The Red Card. This is fantastic news. In the time he did the blog Luis became one of the great unique voices in our little corner of the world. (Especially his travel reports.) I am very happy about this.

Ryan Johnston of Sports Net reports that fall out from the new/old leagues could affect Montreal and Vancouver's participation in the Canadian Championship tournament that places that winner in the CONCACAF Champions League.

When I was growing up playing youth hockey, one of my teammates mom would feed him that crap. It raises your heart rate.

AC Saint Louis already has an extensive set of youth clubs affiliated with it. For this reason, I don't think the moniker ACStL is out of line at all.

The Missouri Athletic Club is well-known here. They organize the Hermann Trophy.

Local response has been good and most people just don't care about the effect on USL.

I predict that MLS will be more likely to adopt ACStL in order to end this rival league wierdness than they have seemed to be so far.

Perhaps the whole league could be adopted along with a two-league relegation set-up!

I know. Unlikely.
