Some News for Fri Oct 23, 2009


Columbus has won the Supporters Shield for the 2nd year in a row!


Chicago got the win they needed last night to secure their spot in the playoffs.


This leaves 6 MLS teams battling it out this weekend for just 2 playoff spots. Wow!


Some great Charlie Davies news too - according to US Soccer he has had more surgery, then gotten out of bed for the first time in 10 days!

DC United were knocked out of the competition aftering Marathon


Marathon of Honduras and Communicaciones of Guatemala join Arabe Unido, Columbus, Pachuca, Toluca, Cruz Azul and Pumas in the knock out stage.


The Quarterfinals will happen in February of 2010.

Oguchi Onyewu has had his knee surgery to repair a torn tendon and will now need 6 months of recovery time. That leaves very little time to prepare for the World Cup. Not good.


Of the 7 Americans on teams that were in the Europa League this week, only Tim Howard at Everton saw action, and he was creamed for 5 goals at Benfica. Oof!
