W Connection & Cruz Azul join Puerto Rico, DC and Pachuca in advancing to the Group Stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. The last 3 teams will advance tonight.

Mexico centerback Rafael Cheap-Shot-Punk-Ass Marquez was injured training with Barcelona ("torn muscle in his left calf") and will most likely miss the game next Wed Aug 12 v USA in World Cup qualifying. Too bad for the USA, as he was probably good for another Red Card.

UEFA Europa League - 3rd qualifying round - Second Leg

Clint Dempsey - Fulham - played the full 90 in a 3-0 home win over Vetra and advance 6-0 on aggregate.
Ryan Guy - St Patrick's Athletic - went the full 90 and lost 2-3 at Krylya Sovetov Samara leaving series tied 3-3 on aggregate and St.PA win on the away goals tie breaker.
Eddie Johnson - Fulham - came on as a sub in the 82nd minute of a 3-0 home win over Vetra and advance 6-0 on aggregate.
Troy Perkins - Valerenga - went the distance and won 0-1 at PAOK and the series ends tied 2-2, but PAOK advance on the away goals tie breaker.
Johann Smith - Rijeka - started and played the first half as they lost 2-0 at Metalist Kharkiv and were knocked out of the tournament 4-1 on aggregate.
