I am off to Mexico City very early on Sunday morning for the big Mexico v USA World Cup qualifier, and will be there all of next week. SOCCER IN MINNEAPOLIS

Big night last night in the City of Lakes as my friends the Indomitable Drinky Crows won the city rec league championship 3-2. Woohoo! We all hit the Cardinal after the game for a raucous throw down of epic proportions! Huge congrats to the Crows. Hooray Beer. Stay thirsty my friends.

Jeff Cunningham scored yet again for Dallas adding to his 4 goals from last Saturday, and giving him 9 on the season. Not to mention Dallas winning yet again and starting to make something of what was looking to be a very miserable season.

MLS NEW YORK RED BULLS BOTTOM DWELLERS

With the Red Bulls in an ugly last place spot in the league, and now getting bounced from the Champions League I thought it might be the time to sum up this past week, with stories from around the New York area focusing on the misery.

dN

MetroFanatic takes us through "the lowest point in team history" for the New York Red Bulls. I truly feel sorry for these fans. I have gotten to know some of them, and like them, and this really is a horrible state. Check out the opening paragraph here: "No wins in three months. Losing to a semi-pro team from Trinidad and Tobago. Incompetent coach and management. A fan base that diminishes by the minute. A clueless owner who turned the club into a walking billboard. Apathy." Damn.

dN

Frank Giase of the Newark Star Ledger on the team being elimidated from the CCL.

dN

Multiple articles from Big Apple Soccer:
-Words from the coach of W Connection calling their series victory over Red Bull being their "Biggest Victory".
-Words from Red Bulls coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
-The team reached new depths in front of their smallest crowd EVER.
-For some bizarre reason some of the players support their coach.
-Team captain and star player Juan Pablo Angel is out with a serious concussion.

dN

Brian Lewis of the New York Post puts it simply: RIP Red Bulls. Including a photo of a banner hanging in Giants Stadium that says: We Deserve Better. Yes they do.

dN

The North Jersey New on losing the game and losing Angel.

dN

Soccer By Ives has lost so much interest in this woeful team that they couldn't even be bothered to give the team their own article, putting them at the bottom of an article featuring the SuperLiga final, and the Seattle v Barca friendly. And this is a site based in New Jersey.

dN

Shockingly, just last month the mothership gave the technical director Jeff Agoss and coach Osorio the dreaded seal of approval, but what is it really going to take to get these guys fired. How can ownership be satisfied with this level of ineptitude when they have built the most expensive soccer stadium in American history that is set to open up in a little over 7 months time. How can they possibly put a positive spin on this mound of crap?

USL FIRST DIVISION

Portland wins again, extending their league record unbeaten streak to 20 games. Unbelievable. They also go back to the top of the table.
-EDITORS NOTE: It's really too bad that they have the most immature & arrogant coach in the history of the league to go with all their good attributes. There really is no excuse for the way this clown acts. On the flip side they have one of the most humane & decent people as an assistant coach, and I just can't figure out why anyone would work with/play for that ignoramous of a head coach. Just sad, and the winning only seems to reinforce that behavior.
