Some News for Tue Jul 28

I got an email from the folks at NBC Universal last night telling me that the August 12 Mexico v USA World Cup Qualifying game on mun2 (channel name) should be available to EVERYONE with cable or satellite. Here is their message: "NBC Universal has made mun2 free for the day of the game, August 12. To get mun2 call your cable, satellite or telco provider."
-Do we trust our local cable companies to come through with this?? Let's all hope it works. But I know some of you will be angry that day.

USA forward Brian Ching to Mexico after humiliating 5-0 loss, looking ahead to Aug 12 Mex v USA World Cup qualifying match: "If they think that game is going to be anything like this, they've got another thing coming. It's not going to be hard to carry over these emotions."

The person from the LA Riot Squad that jumped on the field to answer David Beckman's call for a challenge and was then banned for life from Home Depot center has had that ban removed at the request of the Los Angeles Galaxy and Mr Beckman. Nice. The guy was still an idiot (I am referring to both of them.)

Orrin Schwarz of Chicago's Daily Herald makes the case for the Chicago Fire to clean house at the end of this season. All reasonable ideas that I can see happening.

Our friends at Bumpy Pitch have a bitchin' new shirt (called A View From The Shed End) hitting the streets for all you soccer-underground music fans:
"The shirt is inspired by the punk rock and soccer scenes of the late 1970's / 80's in London. The graphic depicts a classic punk in the Shed End of Stamford Bridge with the terrace end of the stadium directly across from him. We worked on the shirt with an artist named Nick Egan who is from London and was a fixture on the punk scene during this time. He also designed record covers, t-shirts and clothing for the likes of The Clash, the Sex Pistols, The New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood. It touches on how soccer and music inspire one another and the culture around them, and I hope this continues to show the lifestyle and culture of the sport."

If I'm not mistaken Zoltan will be the first Hungarian to play in MLS. Now if only New England would sign Istvan Ferenczi.
