USL FIRST DIVISION

The Montreal Impact has fired coach John Limniatis after getting off to a terrible start this season going 0 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses in 4 games. They also lost in their first game of the Canadian Championship tournament this week. (Although I will point out that my Minnesota Thunder has played 5 games, and only has 1 more point.)

SOCCER IN AMERICA

Jack Bell of the NY Times writes about the current crashing and burning going down with one of the few entities in American soccer that is "making money" - Steven Cohen of World Soccer Daily and Fox Football Fone-in is being hammered by angry Liverpool fans. Make up your own mind who is write, but Cohen is getting destroyed.

AMERICANS IN EUROPE

Clint Dempsey was named Player Of The Month of April at Fulham. (thanks to BQ for the heads up)

Marcus Hahnemann will not get a new contract from Reading after his expires next month, so he is now free to roam the market place. He had one hell of a run at Reading helping them gain promotion 3 years ago, but they have failed this year to climb back to the top, the manager has resigned, and its expected that you will see a full makeover of the squad for next year.

AMERICANS IN MEXICO

Out two lads playing in the Primera came up big for there teams in the playoffs last night - Jose Francisco Torres & Pachuca rolled to a 1-3 road win with our man JFT netting the winner. And recently unearthed Marco Vidal went the full 90 as Indios Juarez won 1-0 in their home leg against the reigning champs Toluca.

Have I told you all how much I love watching those Gophers from Pachuca! Chaco Jimenez is awesome, and I hear Maradona has called him in for the next round of World Cup qualifiers! Great move Diego!

Odds are very good that when this weekend is over we will have champions in England, Italy and Spain.

Both Poland and Bosnia have been fined and further warned by FIFA for fan disruption at the previous World Cup qualifiers. They could lose points or be kicked out of the qualifying tournament if it happens again. It's interesting how FIFA takes this more serious than racism.

Cohen is not getting destroyed. Maybe in Liverpool but most American Soccer fans are with him and back his right to free speech. Sponsors will come back once the hype being fueled by Christopher Harris and EPL Talk does down.
