Officially On Hiatus
I am definitely going to take a break from du Nord.
I have no idea if it will be for days, weeks, months or forever.
But I do know that I am burnt out, and need to step away.
As soon as I know more, so will you.
Thanks for all the great patronage.

Glad to hear you're taking a much deserved break, my friend.
We all look forward to your return with refreshed insight into futbol news of the world.
The world won't be the same without Dunord Updates.....here's hoping you have a great break, replenish and come back as strong as ever.
Glad to hear it il Brucio. You will be missed, there's no doubt, as what you provide is unique out there. Hope you rest, recreate and come back when you can. You deserve the time.

Whatever you decide, please know how much we all appreciated your dedication and insight.
Thank you for all you have done to establish and maintain such an excellent site. I hope you come back, with fire and firm vision. But if you say "enough!", and march onto other happiness in life, then best wishes.
Thanks for the hard work, Bruce!
We love you, you rock! Second to everything "George" said.
Your site is great. Hopefully you'll be back...but if not..thanks!!
Thanks for everything its been a pleasure coming to this site everyday.
I completely understand blogger burnout. After a while, it feels like more of a chore than a fun hobby. Give yourself some space from it and then start thinking about what you truly feel like writing about rather than what you feel like you have to write about. Then follow the former. That's the only way past the burnout.
Good luck.
take care bruce, we've all been there
Enjoy Bruce. The amount of work you put into du Nord is amazing and it's no wonder you need a break. Now if I can just keep myself from going back to Big Soccer.....
I bet if you put out a call for temporary/semi-permanent replacements you'd find more than a few folks willing to keep the blog up to the standards you've set: that's down to how stellar you've been.
Thanks for what you've done, and enjoy your time off.

Life without "Du Nord" = "no life at all."
But seriously, Bruce, take care of yourself. You are 100 times more important to the U.S. soccer community than Beckman, Landon, and Feilhaber combined.

Brucio,
Take it easy, listen to the groundhog and take 6 weeks off for hibernation. :) You need an offseason too. Thanks for all the hard work, you are certainly appreciated more than you think.
Come back when, or if, you want to, we'll still follow you.
Jeff
Dude, rest on! You are a vibrant man who needs a little rejuvenation. But like the mafia, soccer will pull you back in (phew), and I guarantee it happens with some ignorant, brash comment from south of the border in the run-up to Feb. 11. I give it 6 days.
Enjoy the time off. I was astonished daily at how much great info you would compile and felt spoiled every time. Hope you come back with fresh legs (and hopefully some paychecks for this magical blog!).
Good luck buddy. Enjoy the rest. I am sure the US/Mexico game will get you in the mood again
Godspeed brucio, I can only imagine the amount of time you've spent working on du Nord updates.

Du Nord -- you truly are the man - take a few weeks to chill - get your money up - fly out to Europe and catch a match - you'll be back - I guarantee it!
Definitely been there myself son - you deserve every accolade you get - Du Nord is the #10 of all the soccer blogs!
Godspeed son and see you back on the front lines soon - thanks for all your hard work and dedication --you've done American footy proud!!
One!

You deserve it, Brucio. Hoping to see you at the Thunder focus group tomorrow?
Thanks for the great blog!
ps: bob bradley sucks. :-)
Bruce, Only you can decide if this is a finished body of work or one still in progress. Congratulations on what you have accomplished here, and thanks for all your hard work. You will be missed. AJF

Bruce,
Congrats on a great run. If you never post again, you'll have left a legacy of how one fan can cover a worldwide sport across every time zone.
You'll be missed! Good luck.

Hope you return well rested and refreshed.

Thanks from another loyal reader.
Tough to do all that labor with minimal compensation, no?
We appreciate it.
All the best, Bruce. Here's to DuNord returning stronger when you're rested up.

Bruce, DUNORD has been my first read of the day for the last year. Thank you so much for all your work. I certainly hope you will return, nevertheless, best of luck to you.

Brucio - You're no doubt aware of this, but you are true legend in the American soccer scene already. As you've mentioned so many times, this is a game (and culture) ruled by the internet here in the states, and you are the focal point for so many "futbol fanaticos" out there who have trouble navigating the various news sources out there (or who have become disgruntled with the bickering and cliques on the Bigsoccer boards). The "Designated Players" do a great job, but no one pulls it all together on a daily basis like you do. Here's to hoping for good health and happiness no matter what you decide. Thanks for all you've done for so many of us US soccer fans.

Miss ya man. Be well.
I have appreciated very very much your work. This kind of quality can only lead to someone burning out.
Thanks Thanks Thanks.
Thank you for the past and best wishes for the future.
best of luck to you. thanks for what you've done in the past.
I know the feeling brucio. Take your time and be ready before you come back. I've been there and spending so much time on a labor of love can eventually kill off the passion. Good luck and I hope to see you back soon...if not, I completely understand. Thanks for everything.

Bruce, take all the time you need. I burned out back in 2004 and took almost a year to come back.
To Brucio's fans and readers, if you really want to show your appreciation for his thousands of dedicated hours - please follow the links from his blog and buy something from one of his sponsors!
Ciao,

I hear their favorite late night snack is Chinese food. We midwesterners are known for our hospitality. I think having a snack delivered at 3 in the morning every day this week would be downright neighborly of us.
Thank you for your great service to the soccer community. It's a lion share.
I will to look to support your sponsors.
Thank you again.
All the best.
i believe rafa Marquez's favorite midest delicacy is cheese curds.
Good luck with everything.
Incredible work. Thanks for all that you do.

Man, the lack of knowledge is getting to me. I thought that just maybe Ignorance would be bliss, but at this point I need an information fix on my footie, and Now!....help....
We know blogger burnout, having experienced it ourselves (see February through July, 2008). It's really tough to do it all by yourself.
Best of luck and hopefully you'll be back!
In the meantime, for those hungering for U.S. soccer news I recommend http://americansoccernews.net or http://mlsdaily.net
I'm going through Du Nord withdrawal. You provided a service unavailable anywhere else. Come back as soon as you are able.

Bruce,
Always enjoyed the site and the work it must have taken to put it together everyday. Hope you come back, but if not, thanks again.
I miss you Du Nord! Hope to see you back some day, but if not, thanks for all you did. Greatly appreciated!
I've always been amazed by how much info you put together on a daily basis. Thanks for all your hard work. Du Nord was my favorite blog. I'll selfishly keep hoping you get through the burnout and come back soon. Good luck to you, Bruce.
To correct the above poster, the site that is attempting to do the Du Nord-style daily news updates is http://www.MLS-Daily.com
They've been doing it for about three weeks now, and generally have links to between 50-70 stories each day to peruse (during the week).
You're killin me, Bruce. My productivity has shot through the roof since your break started.
I guess that means DuNord can no longer be considered a Designated Player (DP).
What will we all do?!!!!!
Oh yeah, it's just a blog so it's no big deal. See that was easy folks.
Move along now, nothing to see here.
DuNord = This is Not Doug Logan.
NEXT!
Miss having such a great soccer blog, rest up though.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! This was the best place to get soccer news. I think I am going to cry.
I still check here everyday hoping to catch the Return of Du Nord!
You are missed my man. Enjoy the vacation!
Matchnight = Not Doug Logan = MLS Underground = DuNord.
You can always get your daily fill of MLS News and Whatnot here.
Honored to call you a friend Bruce. Carry on....
