The Richard Snowden idea of points deduction is really stupid. You'll get teams stuck in the muck forver, not incenticize players to play better.

Instead, there's a simple answer-pay the players to win. Most MLS players don't make a lot of money, so if there's a reasonable performance bonus for each game, you'll see better performances every game.

Yes Joe! Yes! Performance incentives from the team or league is all it would take.

Liverpool is only a point ahead of Chelsea. The table is current (i.e. it includes the Liverpool V West Ham result from Monday).

1 Liverpool 15 13 34
2 Chelsea 15 27 33
3 Man Utd 14 16 28
4 Arsenal 15 8 26

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 Aston Villa 15 6 25

Dempsey had a helluva game over the weekend. He certainly not the most talented player out there, but he brings a fire in the belly that seems to up all the Fulham players performances.

Regarding MLS relegation: I've always thought the only way they could have made it work is to buy into USL and have expansion teams start there. That is the only way you could justify buying into the league, because you can move up.

7:17 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Relegation is the dumbest idea ever. Why do I want to see the worst teams fight it out to see who stays afloat. Boring. I'd rather see the best teams fight it out for a championship. That is why the playoffs are superior to relegation. Take England, spain, germany, ect. almost all the time one team out plays everyone else and with 3-4 weeks left no one can catch them on points, so there is nothing for the top 5 team to play for, making the end of the season boring to watch. And forget about it, if you are a mid level team Woohoo. I don't know what they are even playing for.

yeah, re dempsey and fulham, you wrote:

"-Clint Dempsey - Fulham - went all 90 but drew 0-0 at Aston Villa."

"but" implies not such a great result. Fulham drawing Villa away from home is a very good result!
