USA Roster For Cuba Qualifier

The USA has announced their training roster for the World Cup qualifier next Sat Oct 11 at RFK Stadium in Washington DC.

With a victory the team can clinch a spot in the final group round (The Hexagonal), leaving the last 2 games in this round (Oct 15 at T&T and Nov 19 v Guate) open for experimenting with lineups.

The roster:
G:
Brad Guzan - Aston Villa
Tim Howard - Everton
Troy Perkins - Valerenga
D:
Carlos Bocanegra - Rennes
Dan Califf - Midtjylland
Steve Cherundolo - Hannover
Jay DeMerit - Watford
Frankie Hejduk - Columbus Crew
Oguchi Onyewu - Standard Liege
Michael Orozco - San Luis
Heath Pearce - Hansa Rostock
M:
Freddy Adu - Monaco
DaMarcus Beasley - Rangers
Michael Bradley - Monchengladbach
Maurice Edu - Rangers
Sacha Kljestan - Chivas USA
Danny Szetela - Brescia
Jose Francisco Torres - Pachuca
F:
Jozy Altidore - Villarreal
Brian Ching - Houston Dynamo
Charlie Davies - Hammarby
Clint Dempsey - Fulham
Landon Donovan - Los Angeles Galaxy

The barking dogs got all their guys on this roster except Kenny Cooper. Now it's obviously a conspiracy against him.

Never fear, there's still plenty to whine about beyond the conspicuous lack of Cooper. Hejduk, but no Chad Marshall or Robbie Rogers? Where's Marvell Wynne? And if we can get Torres, why not Subotic or Rossi?

The haters will always find reason to hate...

Indeed, Kenobi. People will always complain. I think people really have it out for Bob. I'm not a superfan, but I wasn't worried about selection. I figured he would bring the right guys in with time to spare, and he has. I believe that the Arena teams looked quite different from the start of qualifying to the start of the World Cup as well.

Was the courting of Torres a publicized thing? If so, I missed it. If not, does it signal the fact that Subotic could be declining the invitations he's getting?

And, if I'm not mistaken, Rossi is now a lost cause, since he played in the Olympics. Correct?

Rossi is definitely a lost cause. He hasn't suited up for the senior Italian team but he has stated repeatedly that he has no intention of playing for the US.

People need to not get their hopes up about Subotic either. Remember, Tom Rongen called him out, told the press he wasn't good enough when the kid was only 17. Would you want to play for a national team with a coach in it's ranks who dogged you like that? Especially when he has Germany, a better, more successful, more beloved team than the US courting him too. He'll play for Germany mark my words.

Those aren't my complaints (except maybe Hejduk). Just saying what I expected to hear (and by now, have already heard).

I'm with you guys. Despite the shred of hope that some daydream believers seem to be clinging to, Rossi will never play for anyone but Italy, and I'd be shocked if Subotic ever suits up for the US either.
