Ring The Rang News

Let's start off with something important today: I owe the people of the Houston area a huge apology. Yesterday I called them out when only 4000 showed up for the CCL game against San Francisco the other night. But of course I idiotically forgot to take the recent horrible damage from Hurricane Ike into consideration. I am sorry for being so callous. I love the Houston fans, and their team. Take care and best of luck with your lives. -Bruce

A big du Nord "Hooray Beer!" to our friends in Salt Lake. I hope you have a blast at the new stadium. The bad news is that in 7 previous tries RSL has NEVER beaten New York. So I guess this is the chance to change that. I am kicking myself for not finding a way to go to this game. Dammit.

Jack Warner/Sepp Blatter/FIFA Idiocy & Scandal News

There is one part of Sepp Blatter's argument against rich foreign owners getting in on the top European leagues - It would be a lot better if these people invested in the game in their own countries. It's not going to happen, but in a perfect world it would be cool to see the rich Americans who have bought into the Premiership but all their money into MLS. The problem with this logic though, is that they are business people, not soccer people.

Uh, well, Mr. Rocket Scientist, smart business people make investments in enterprises they believe will pay good dividends.

For instance, as much as you may want to sponsor a worldwide arena tour featuring Husker Du and The Replacements, there isn't as big a market for it as there is for U2 and Coldplay---so which "tour" do you think a smart businessman would put his money behind ?

By the way, you sound like the kind of guy who is really liberal about throwing around everyone else's money.
Ha, ha, ha.

Putting together a U2/Coldplay bill, then using the proceeds for that to reanimate Zombie Bob Stinson and pay the lawyers required for Mould and Hart to appear onstage together for more than 15 minutes. I mean, really.
