Intensity In One City News

Newcastle care-taker manager Joe Kinnear went after the English tabloid papers during a press conference yesterday with a nearly deranged ferocity. I wish he would have been better prepare with exact text of what these papers wrote, because I have no doubt he is right - they took his words and actions and moved them around to suit their bloodlust. He just comes off a little nuts. But he certainly doesn't hold back in the salty language! I know most of you aren't fazed by a slew of cuss words, but I have to give you a heads up, there is no editing in this text. Full transcript from The Guardian.
~and~

Pachuca midfielder Jose Francisco Torres accepted the invite to join Team USA for the upcoming World Cup qualifier. Excellent.

~and~

Tauro (home) & Joe Public (away!) beat Mexican teams Santos Laguna & Atlante respectively last night in the CONCACAF Champions League. Huge wins for those two!

My notes from the Thursday night game:
-How was FCD centerback Duilio Davino not given a Red Card when he blatantly used his hand to swat down a ball that was going over his head and would have sent SJE forward Scott Seally in alone on the keeper?? How is that possible? He got a Yellow.
-The PK that got called on SJE midfielder Francisco Lima for a handball in the box is causing a lot of talk today as well. I think all San Jose fans see it as a bad call, with Dallas fans seeing it as an easy handball call. As a neutral observer I thought it was an obvious infraction as well, but what do I know.... Watch it for yourself.
-Ryan Johnson is one hell of a tough late game sub to try and stop for San Jose. His goal was great. Again.
