I think the crowd's favorite Kenny Cooper is missing.

I have always appreciated Franky's contributions to the mnt... but couldn't we do just as well using someone who might still be playing when the next WC rolls around?

a right sided winger is missing!

who might that be?
how about Mr. Davies-du-rogers..just kidding (Adu is the man for the future if he plays more D- like he did during the Holland game)

it really seems that we don't have one.

Ralston comes to mind but is he too old? He might just be perfect here in his twilight!

could cherundolo be that attacking midfield meastro for out right? If so, we would probably need another outside back, like bornstein (does he deserve it?)

could landycakes go out wide (dempsey staying up front w/ his size & bigger ba$$s)? If so, we would need another foward. perhaps frankencooper or even Twellman? (Jozy will be there later)!

The absence of Cooper DOES bother me and, as I noted in my posting of the roster early this afternoon, although I bleed Dynamo Orange, I'm not crazy about putting Ching on that roster.

altidore > ching

but his absence could be due to his missing most of villareal's preseason in beijing? even so, cooper deserves a shot over ching.

You see, the problem with cooper is, he just scores too many goals. Now if he were to miss a few like EJ or ching, well he would be in the line up.

Okay for reals, Bradley is going with is proven team, with proven players. Cooper will get called up soon, right after we have already secured getting into the next round. This is not a friendly, this is qualificaion time baby

If we lose to Guatemala, let's send Bradley on a solo sailing trip through Papua-New Guinea. Apparently, Princeton men are highly appreciated there.

Cooper just needs to work on his back-passes. Once he realizes that when he gets the ball, his first instinct should be to pass backwards, he'll be taking EJ's place.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of EJ and Ching here, but I think we've got savior disease when it comes to forwards. I'll be blown away if Kenny Cooper comes into the National team and starts scoring like crazy. This looks to me like another guy who lights it up in MLS and will be underwhelming internationally. I hope I'm wrong, and he absolutely deserves a shot, but I don't think he's going to score at will.

Pat,
Cooper probably won't light up the world. You are definitely right about that. But we KNOW that Ching and EJ bring little to the squad.

I think a lot of fans are frustrated because Bradley seems reluctant to even TRY something new.

Furthermore, part of qualification is blooding the young guys who will actually be playing in 2010. It's hard to imagine that Hejduk, E. Lewis, and maybe even Ching will be playing a role by then.

I just love the old "we're going with experience" rationale. It's a classic.

The "experience" of Ching and EJ bring what exactly? An inate ability to look like they're forwards without the goal talley?

Bobs problem IMHO is that he doesn't like certain player's playing style. And rather that make the creative choice to try and find ways to incorporate their productive traits into his "system" , he chooses to either ignore them or force to be something they're not.

Who cares if Cooper fails at the into level? At least we made the effort to try someone besides the same do nothings we trott out time after time expecting different results.

I absolutely hate Frankie Hedjuk and Mastroeni (the latter for that unforgivable lunge in the Italy game, and the former because effort only goes so far).

There I said it, someone had to.
