Day Off, And Not A Moment Too Soon

Welcome to another in a long line of American Holidays.

This one is Independence Day.

Named after that great movie from 1996.

It's celebrated every year now on the 4th of July.

We all take the day off from working to gather 'round the old boob tube and watch the brilliant film, featuring the acting skills of Bill Pullman, Vivica A Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Harvey Fierstein, Jeff Goldbum, Will Smith and, of course, Mr Holiday Movie himself, Randy Quaid, over and over again.

After that we flip around the dial to watch the Williams Sisters kick some butt at Wimbledon, and Lewis Hamilton dominate his home course, Silverstone, in F1.

In the early evening we drive over to St Paul and buy ribs and chicken from Big Daddys. They are serving inside these days too.

Later we watch plenty of MLS.

Finally we go to sleep with the sounds of juvenile delinquents blasting firecrackers into the early morning hours. Ahhhhhh. Soothing.

What a weekend.

Enjoy yourself, but don't drink too much egg nog.

See ya Monday.

Bruce
