Bruce...I mean, I like the CL and all, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the Copa Libertadores. And one could argue that the Euro gives you less boring games than the WC.

evan
you didnt catch my drift
i said cl was second greatest
that leaves the door wide open for #1
and allows me to change my #1 at any given moment for reasons i only need to explain to myself
so today for example
the usl first division playoffs may be #1
and tomorrow
libertadores
and next week african champions league
and then world club championship
etc etc etc
you always need a loophole

but please explain to us your devoted love of libertadores

In the Copa Libertadores you get many more exciting games than in the Champions League. There wasn't any ties in last year's CL that was as good as Cucuta v. Nacional or Cucuta v. Boca in the Libertadores this year.

Maybe the second leg of Man Utd-Roma came close, but for every game like that, there's a snorer with Chelsea or Liverpool.

Bruce, posted before I saw your comment. I had a feeling that you might have been waving w/ #1. So many people say the WC is the best, so I just ASSumed that's what you meant!

I know you give space to the Libertadores, but too many people don't. Another thing that puts it ahead for me--the fans. Gremio's fans bouncing up and down in the curva with blue flares going this past tournament was great. You rarely get that type of atmosphere in the CL (of course, you also don't have games called off because of fans on the pitch, but that's another matter...)
