I just got done watching Switz. v Chile. Fun game to watch! This was an important game for Chile since it was Bielsa's debut as the new coach. Chile started out the game half asleep (as always) so I didn't see much change in that respect. But after the first Swiss goal (which was a beaut!) Chile kicked it into gear...and Chilean fans had a chance to see their team on the offensive. I LOVED it! I haven't seen Chile go out to win a game in God knows how long...unfortunately the defense suffered. Chile got hammered on the counter time after time and they're actually pretty lucky the game didn't end up 5-1. In the second half Chile also had a goal that was called back and when I saw the replay that really looked like an incorrect call to me. A few players from the infamous U-20 team also saw significant playing time including "El Nino Maravillo" (Wonder Boy) Alexis Sanchez who scored the only Chilean goal. Mauricio Islas, one of the figures from the U20 W.C. also started, but he looked out of sorts the whole game. I don't think he earned his spot yet. "El Matador," Marcelo Salas entered the game towards the very end and had one really nice chance where he showed the superb ball control he's known for. But I'm a huge Salas hater and besides that one shot he had he looked sluggish and lazy, as usual. My vote is, off with his head! JK, I just don't want to see him on the field again, he's washed up. Thank God the Chicago Fire thing didn't work out, that would've been a huge mistake on the Fire's part.

Anyways, that's my take on the game. Sorry for being long winded but I have nobody to talk about the game with...my husband hates soccer and my guy friends just laugh when I talk futbol. They think girls should have nothing to do with sports.

If Bruce or any other DuNord fans saw the game I'd love to know what you think of the beginning of the Bielsa era!
