Salt Lake Wipe Out!

Real Salt Lake make the total team shake up today as head coach John Ellinger is replaced, and general manager Steve Pastrorino resigns.

Now, were they smart enough to go with an experienced MLS coach who can set them straight quickly without having to learn on the job?

No no no. Of course not. Remember, this is RSL, and they never do anything the easy way.

They go the opposite direction of easy and appoint player Jason Kreis as their coach! Yes, Jason Kreis! He retired as a player immediately to take over the reigns.

Oh my. We can only hope that for the sake of the great fans in SLC this guy can get it done.

And Ellinger will stay in the organization as the technical director. This is a fancy way of saying they still have to pay him, so why not try to get something out of him.

I am also wondering if Pastrorino resigned because he did not want to get rid of Ellinger, or if he thought it was time for a clean slate?

After this there's no doubt Freddy will head off to Europe. What a joke.

We all knew it was coming, but that doesn't lessen the profound sense of bewilderment that I feel right now.

Where in the world is Dave Dir? Dave could at least get these clowns into the playoffs with the existing roster.

I wonder if Jason just wanted to retire when he could still say that he retired as the all-time leading scorer. ;-)

Ellinger is a joke and I don't want to say this but I think RSL is a joke at this point.

Freddy to Europe? I don't mean this to come off crass, but tell me who wants him and what has he done lately to show that he deserves it?

Ohh! And a big happy birthday to Sr. Wolf. AKA Bruce. It's his big day today!

I totally agree bq. Freddy has looked average this year with few mistakes, but very few moments of inspiration. I know he is only 17, but I have seen little improvement in his game in the last year and when you are only 17, aren't you supposed to be improving a lot? He needs to get his swagger back (run at someone please!) or he will be the youngest player ever to plateau.

As for RSL...I feel terrible for the fans. They seem to really support this team and the team just sucks! Good riddence Mr. Ellinger and please don't go back to the youth national team!
