Holy Smokes It's Blanco
Even though it's been rumored for weeks now, I can't believe that the Chicago Fire actually went through with it and signed Mexican star-villain Cuauhtemoc Blanco. The hunchbacked old midfielder is sure to stir up a ton of shit with players, critics and fans alike, but it will no doubt be exciting to watch. Luis Arroyave of the Chicago Tribune has been tracking this move every step of the way and broke the news on Sunday.
Blanco will be in Chicago today and tomorrow to sign his new contract and meet fans. He will join the team officially in June after his current contract with Club America ends.

I'm positively mystified on this one. That no-neck bastard might give a bump in the Fire's pocketbook, but I can't see that lasting long. Weird, weird signing - especially at the figure involved.
