Today the rumor machine has New York chasing after Brazilian Edmundo. He is 36, has played for about 15 teams in 6 different countries, caused a ton of trouble everywhere he has been and scored about 6000 goals. Sounds like Clint Mathis could be getting a mentor to me.

Here is a new pic of Chris Armas with hair and one hell of a contusion around his eye. Avery John from New England is who caught him with an elbow. He needed 9 stitches to close it up immediately. Of course he was right back on the pitch within minutes. It's been since his first days in the league that I remember seeing Armas with this much hair. (thanks to the Shandy Sisters for the photo)

So Freddy Adu says he wanted out of DC United cuz he couldn't get the spot he treasured in the center of the midfield held down by Christian Gomez. Then he gets traded to Real Salt Lake where he starts game 1 of the 07 season at what position? Yes that's right, left midfield. He was beat out for the center spot by Mehdi Balouchy. And he wants to play for Real Madrid. Oh Freddy, Freddy, Freddy. What are we gonna do with ya? You looked good on the left my man. Ridge Mahoney at Soccer America checks out the RSL lineup.

Andrea Canales at Soccer365 says MLS is forcing all players to put their LAST name on the back of their shirts from now on. They want uniformity. Like the NFL I guess. Lame-asses! Have some fun. Let Herculez Gomez be Herculez! Come on. Lighten up.

Did ya see Man U coach Alex Ferguson signing autographs for fans while yesterdays game WAS STILL GOING ON? Imagine if one of his players did that. I bet he would destroy them. I found it a little odd.

After the beat down at the hands of Man U, Roma captain Francesco Totti said, “This is the saddest evening of my entire career.” I have to say that I am really glad he seems to have ditched his tired old whining, diving and cheap shoting ways. I'd love to see Eric Wynalda pop Jim Rome.

It wouldn't even be a fair fight, as little Jimmy is all of four feet eleven.

Completely agree with you about the Herculez thing. What a bunch of stuck-ups. I hope the next time he meets Crystal or Thiffault, Preki insists that he be addressed "Mr. Radosavljević", complete with the correct Serbian pronounciation.

I disagree with you about Adu's position/role though: as has been mentioned several times, he plays "left forward", not "left midfield" -- this is "Ronaldinho's usual position" with Barca, and involves significantly less (read: little, if any) defensive responsibilities. Adu has chafed quite a bit about being asked to improve his defensive responsibilities. I am impressed, though, that Ellinger plays a 4-3-3, with that backline and with only Ballouchy in the center of the park.
